Last weekend before we left to South Dakota, of course we had to go garage sale shopping. Curtis found in the paper that there was going to be a 7 family garage sale and on the list of things for sale were
2 Antique Cushman Scooters. I know Curtis well enough to know that there was no gettin' out of goin' to that sale....even though we wanted to head for South Dakota bright and early. The sale didn't start until 8 am, but we decided we would just be one of those annoying garage sale goers that arrives early and starts going through things before everything is even set up. So, we arrived around 7:30, but only to find that the scooters were $4500.00 each....not really in our budget:) Since we were already there, we decided to take a gander and see what else they had.
So, we came across these canisters and to make a long story short, Curtis broke one of the lids and we had to buy them. The garage sale was in this warehouse type thing, so when the lid fell and broke, everyone heard it, stopped, and turned and looked at us....so embarrassing. We felt stupid being the annoying early birds who also break things. We were just glad the set was only $5 and that we actually had $5 cash with us. It gave us a good laugh on our ride home:)
Too funny! You are lucky they weren't an antique item :) That is a pretty funny story!
ReplyDeleteWhat funky cannisters! Too bad you are now short one lid! I laughed when I read this....by the way what a fun trip to South Dakota.
ReplyDeleteI think I know what one of the White Elephant gifts for this years Christmas party are going to be.
ReplyDeleteCanisters are not the cheapest things. Too bad they are not entirely white. Just enjoy them:)
ReplyDeleteMatt & I love reading about you two!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like something that would happen to us.
At least they were only $5. When I was looking at the picture I thought that it said $15!
That is a funny story about the garage sale. Geoff has been talking about starting up a scooter website with Curtis. All of the sudden he has become a big scooter fan. It looks like your trip was fun. It's too bad we didn't make it out there while we were living in Wyoming. It looks like a fun place to visit.
