>>SOUTH DAKOTA

Over the weekend Curtis and I took a fun, little trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota. We had all sorts of good times. We went to Deadwood, visited the Mount Moriah Cemetery, gambled a bit, saw Mount Rushmore, and ended the trip with a fun visit through Wind Cave.

Deadwood...Deadwood is a really cool, old town. Most of the buildings are really old (I think they were built sometime in the 1800's). Most of them are hotels/casinos, tourist shops, and restaurants.

{Above...Left: Me and what we think is the ghost of Wild Bill; Right: A real life street fight...not really, but I jumped so high and then ducked for cover when their guns went off. I wasn't expecting it and it scared me sooo bad}

Mount Moriah Cemetery...This is an old cemetery in Deadwood. Wild Bill and "Calamity Jane" are buried here. There are some very interesting looking headstones here.

Mount Rushmore...Mount Rushmore was amazing. I just can't believe the builders of this were able to do such incredible work with such detail while hanging off of the mountain. It really is amazing! If you need a reminder of which presidents are on Mount Rushmore...George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

Wind Cave...Curtis surprised me by making plans for us to visit Wind Cave. I'll admit I was a little apprehensive at first, but it turned out to be really awesome!! Wind Cave is HUGE...it is hundreds of miles long. Inside the cave was really dark, but the pictures don't show it because we had our flash on.

{Above....Left: This is the natural entrance to the cave. The cave is called Wind Cave because at the entrance, you can feel wind blowing out of the cave. It is really cool. It feels like there is an air conditioner on right inside the cave that is blowing out the cave entrance; Right: Curtis inside the cave.}

All in all, we had a GREAT time in South Dakota. The Black Hill are truly soooo beautiful....not black at all, but very green. It is a beautiful drive and I would recommend for anyone to go there.
