One year ago, my sweet baby boy was born!! He came into the world weighing in at a whopping 4 lbs, 8 oz. After laboring for a little over 9 hours, our little guy's heart rate dropped and I was rushed down the hall for an emergency c-section.
Curtis missed the whole thing!
I remember the day I learned I was pregnant. It was a complete shock!! I don't think I've ever been so surprised in all my life! There were many reasons I was so incredibly shocked....a few being the fact that we had been trying for 6 years to get pregnant with no such luck (I had kind of just accepted that it wasn't going to happen for us), I had just had surgery and had a negative pregnancy test the day of the surgery (however, turns out I was actually 4 weeks pregnant the day of surgery), and we were right in the middle of the adoption process. This was a lot to take in.
I remember asking the doctor if there was any other test I could do to see if I really was pregnant. I didn't really believe it could be true. He laughed and said I could do blood work but that it was kind of pointless. "Yes, I want bloodwork!" So he sent me on my way to the hospital for blood labs. A few hours later the lab called me back confirming that I was indeed pregnant....probably around 7 weeks. I still couldn't believe it. I had to take a home pregnancy test just so I could see for myself.
Yep, I was pregnant!
I love my little guy so much! I can't imagine life without him. He has taught me a lot this past year. He has taught me patience, he's taught me how to put other's needs ahead of my own, he has taught me that I won't die from lack of sleep and he's taught me how to love more than I ever knew was possible.
I love you, Henry!! Happy Birthday sweet boy!!
