Last Sunday I kissed the husband goodbye, left the safety of my home and entered into a world I had never before experienced in such depth...the world of State Fair. I spent EIGHT
sheep shows,
beef shows,
goat shows,
horse shows,
swine shows,
poultry shows,
rabbit shows,
cat shows,
dog shows,
fashion revues,
purple ribbons,
blue ribbons,
red ribbons,
cowboy boots,
cowboy hats,
angry parents,
happy kids,
mad kids,
sad kids,
tired kids,
tired parents,
cow pies,
smelly barns
hot weather,
cotton candy,
snow cones,
restless nights,
clowns,
carnies,
and lots and lots of fun!!!
In approximately 365 days I get to do it all again....
Isn't life funny? You just never know where it's going to take you...
I would have never ever guessed in a million years that I would be living in small town Wyoming helping kids with their 4-H livestock projects and learning things like the difference between ewe and wether lambs.
I guess life really is like a box of chocolates.
LOVE it!! Who would have ever known!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've been working hard! I bet it's been a cool experience! And I have to say, I love goats. They are just so cute. I might need to get a pygmy goat one day. You can be my go-to person when I have questions about how to care for it. ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds adventurous! My dad's side of the family owns a dairy farm in Idaho, so every summer my cousins did 4H and showed their animals int he fairs. I'm kind of familiar with that stuff! :) One summer I was up there for 6 weeks and I got to help hand out ribbons at the heifer showing contest, or whatever you call it. :) In any case, I bet those kids love you!
ReplyDeleteYou're such a cute 4H lady! So how did you get into this again?? Is it part of your job, or is it a side extracurricular hobby, or is it an extra job where you get paid? Either way, I think it's awesome that you do it and fill your life with new and unexpected things.
