Here is what we have watched if you need some ideas of where to start.....
The Fugitive ('93)
Awesome movie. Action packed, lots of turns and twists, and stars Harrison Ford to boot.
Thelma and Louise ('91)
Loved this movie! We actually hadn't ever seen it before, but it was talked about last week on NPR, so we decided to add it to our Nexflix queue and I'm glad we did. Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis are awesome! Great movie...I would totally watch it again.
Waiting for Guffman ('96)
This is another movie I hadn't ever seen until now. Funny, funny, funny. Loved this movie. This movie has totally inspired me to start up a community theater in Thermopolis. I'm not ambitious enough to do so, but boy would it be fun. Loved the characters. Loved this movie.
Footloose ('84)
Good movie...good dancing...classic 80s style. Anyone up for getting together to learn the dance from this movie? I'm serious! Let me know.
Beetlejuice ('88)
Wow, this was sure a blast from the past. Beetlejuice was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Michael Keaton does a great job as Beeltejuice...totally crude, disgusting and even manages to drop the F-bomb in this PG movie. Total Tim Burton movie.
Little Shop of Horrors ('86)
This was another favorite of mine growing up. I can't decide if it was a good thing or not to watch this movie as an adult. It is weird...crazy...violent...even a little disturbing. I think it would be better had I not watched it again and just had the memories of it being the best movie ever. However, I will always love Audrey and wish I looked and sounded like her, just as I did when I was 6.
The 80s and early 90s were a great time for movies, wouldn't you say? We frequently watch the classics such as Top Gun, Some Kind of Wonderful, Sixteen Candles, Back to the Future, etc., but I still have a few childhood favorites that I want to revisit...hits such as...
Harry and the Hendersons ('87)
E.T. ('82)
Teen Witch ('89)
Three Men and a Baby ('87)
Willow ('88)
What about you? What were your favorite childhood movies? Any I must revisit?
okay! the fugitive...a-mazing! i love love love that movie.
ReplyDeleteand waiting for guffman, well that's sort of a given. i was introduced to it as a wee junior high kid and ever sice then it will be a forever favorite! now go see 'this is spinal tap", "a mighty wind", and best in show" you won't be disappointed.
don't hate me...i've never seen footloose but i think that's all going to change really soon.
So many great movies from that time! My faves from the late 80's and early 90's are: Troop Beverly Hills, A League of Their Own, and Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead. I'm going to be staying the night in Thermopolis on July 6th ... maybe we could try to learn the Footloose dance then!
ReplyDeleteSorry for double commenting but I just thought of a few more classics... Edward Scissorhands, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and Curly Sue... I think you've inspired me to have a movie marathon!
ReplyDeleteWhat about Mannequin? Or Twins?
ReplyDeleteOooooooo I love this post! Sounds like you guys have been having tons of fun!
ReplyDeleteMad props to the person above who mentioned Troop Beverly Hills--I've watched that movie more times than I can count!
Have a good weekend :-)
Definitely Ghostbusters...one and two, but mostly two. ;) Can't Buy Me Love, and Pretty in Pink!
ReplyDeleteAwww I love this post. I love the fugitive. Dirty Dancing was something I watched all the time. My husband... Goonies. Other 80's/90's flicks I should totally revisit are...
ReplyDelete- Ferris Buellers Day Off
- The Breakfast Club
- The Princess Bride
- Legends of The Fall
- Heathers
- Waynes World (party time! excellent!) lol
- The Boy Who Could Fly
- Edward Scissorhands
I could go on and on. One movie that totally disturbed me as a child and actually still does, was Flowers in The Attic... do you remember that? My husband says, The Hand That Rocked The Cradle really gets to him too.
Can't believe I forgot this one... one of my all time faves... Steel Magnolias.
ReplyDeleteHey! You totally called it, even after my crazy list. "WILLOW" and "THREE MEN AND A BABY"... how could I leave those out?! Love them.
