I finally saw the movie Love Actually. How this movie existed without me knowing is beyond me. It contained everything I enjoy in a movie: great actors, great music, accents, love, some cheese, some humor, conflict, resolution and meaning.
Being in love is the greatest thing on earth. Nothing else can compare.
One of my favorite parts of the movie was the very beginning when David (Hugh Grant) made this statement:
Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion... love actually is all around.
Sigh.
And this song had me giggling throughout the movie:
I loved this movie. Thank you friends for recommending it to me. As I am one who can watch the same movie over and over again, this one is sure to be a regular.

ReplyDeleteA Christmas favorite in my house--love love love it!
Such a great movie. We watch this movie every christmas. And now we have a tradition where Clay sings good king wenceslas on christmas morning (we love the carol singers scene)
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, you're not the only one. I still have yet to see this movie! I'm putting it on my list of movies to watch now. :)
ReplyDeleteWe watch it every year.
ReplyDeleteThe first time I watched it was on my first Christmas after my divorce but before I married Brock. My kids were with their dad, and I was literally all alone on Christmas day because I had to work the next day and my parents live 5 hours away. I think that was the biggest sob-fest I've ever had. It's a good thing life has since changed for me.
Shannon always wants to watch the scenes with the porno couple, but I make her fast forward.
