Did you guys see the lunar eclipse last night?
We set our alarm clock for 11:30pm (because we are old and can't stay up that late on our own), put on our coats and ventured outside.
This was the very start of the eclipse. Notice the huge ring around the moon. It was pretty spectacular.
We set the alarm again for 1:30am so we could see its progress, but I was much too tired and couldn't get out of bed. Curtis went to check things out, but it was a bit too hazy outside to see much. From what he could see though, the moon had an orange-ish hue.
Did you know that this was the first time since 1638 that an eclipse has coincided with the winter solstice (or the first day of winter)? Pretty groovy.
I'm not gonna lie, I've had this song stuck in my head ever since hearing about last night's lunar eclipse:
I'm sorta attached to this song. It was, after all, release March of 1983. Not only my birth year, but my birth month.
I may or may not have been staring at the lunar eclipse last night shouting this song with my arms stretched out to the moon. "I really need you tonight...forever's gonna start tonight...lunar eclipse of the heart." Then my neighbor yelled out her window for me to shut-up and it kinda ruined the moment for me.
So...did you guys see it or not? What did it look like in your neck of the woods?
I set my alarm, too! I managed to get up and out of bed but, unfortunately, the sky was way too cloudy to see the moon at all... I'm pretty sure there was an orange tint to the clouds but that might have just been my late night imagination!
ReplyDeleteGreat song!!
Dangit, I can't believe I forgot to look outside! I count on Twitter to keep me apprised of the news...Twitter, you failed me. Not like I don't go to bed until 3 am every night. Looks super awesome!
ReplyDeleteGlad you go to see--cool pic!
