Last Friday during lunch, I asked Curtis if he was interested in seeing the movie The Switch (the movie with Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman) that happened to be playing at our local theater.
Some quick info about our local theater, The Ritz....They play one new movie a week...and by new movie, I mean a movie that has been out at least a month. So, if a movie is playing that one wants to see, they have 7 days to go see it...or...one weekend. Plus, it's not all too often that a movie makes it to the theater that is even worth seeing.
Back to the story...
"Sure, I'll go see it," Curtis says.
I respond with a sorta surprised "really?" I thought he would say no like he usually does with the chic-flicky type movies I like to watch.
"It's a date then!" he says.
"Sweet!" A Friday night date with my lover boy.
Throughout the rest of the day, I'm excited and looking forward to date night with the hubby.
After work, we head home and eat some dinner. I then change into warm clothes because I always freeze at the theater.
As 7:00 gets nearer, I check with Curtis (who is watching football) to see if he still wants to go.
"Yeah, I do."
"K, well, we gotta go soon, k. I don't want to be late."
"K, we'll leave soon."
It's now 6:50.
"You ready dear?"
"Yeah, I just want to see the rest of this play."
"K, but it's almost 7, k."
"K."
It's 7:00 and we are finally off.
We get there late, but no worries (it just means we get to find our seats in the dark)
I order our tickets and pay.
I then order and pay for our drinks, popcorn and licorice.
We are into the movie not more than 15 minutes when Curtis says, "this movie is so stupid."
Followed by
"I'm so tired."
"I thought this movie was suppose to be a comedy."
"I don't feel good."
"I'm so cold."
I gave Curtis my sweater hoping it would help the situation.
After a couple of minutes, he was out....sound asleep....quietly snoring.
I sat by myself with my soda and popcorn and watched the rest of the movie, freezing cold, no less.
During the closing credits, I woke Curtis up and we headed home.
Now....Curtis still considers this a date.
I say, no way Jose.
What do you think?
I loved the movie by the way.
And I love you too sweetie peetie.
I'm the best husband in the world!
ReplyDeleteI think Curtis has to make you a from-scratch dinner (at least three courses) and do the dishes.
ReplyDeleteNo way Jose is right! Sleeping during a date--you go back there next weekend and make-out during an entire movie!
ReplyDeleteI hate being late to movies! I think you are right in not considering it a proper date. :) Curtis, now you get to plan a whole date and surprise your wife! And I think it's cute that you were excited to go all day long.
ReplyDeleteNo Way was that a date! He totally needs to redeem himself (and that first comment) and take you out a real date, no sleeping this time!
ReplyDeleteI think the title of that night was the switch!
ReplyDeleteBoo, Curtis try again!
:)
Oops that last comment was me not Matt
ReplyDeleteThat happens to me too..but Jared is asleep on the couch! I would make him take you out to dinner or something!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not a date. Demand a do-over!
ReplyDeleteIf he had simply fallen asleep minus all the complaining, then yes, it counts. I fall asleep in movies all the time. It's the attitude of telling you all about what a bad time he's having that is totally un-date-like.
ReplyDeleteDear Curtis,
ReplyDeleteI demand a re-do for your lovely wife. Because, afterall, she's lovely. You can always sleep later.
Hahahahaha.
Well nothing has changed for me, dan took me to two weeks notice, and fell asleep. Now he rents scary movies cause he wants to watch "something" scary...and then falls asleep. And i'm too scared to turn it off!
