I day dream for a good portion of my waking hours...off in my own world, trying to escape reality, I suppose.
But I also dream a lot at night. I usually have several dreams every night. Some nights it seems like my dream lasts the entire night...from the time I go to bed to the time I wake up. I'm sure that isn't the case, since supposedly, dreams only last a few minutes, but they sure seem to last longer.
I typically dream about things that are going on in my life. For example, at work right now I am busy getting ready for county fair. Last night, I dreamed ALL NIGHT about fair entry forms...it was horrible. It was stressful and it seriously seemed to last the entire night.
A few weeks ago I started reading Harry Potter and I have already had several dreams about it. The first dream I had involved a guy on a flying motorcycle (Hagrid rescued Harry at the beginning of book 1 on a flying motorcycle). I even had a dream where I learned I was a wizard!
For this very reason, I don't like to watch scary movies. They always give me nightmares!!
If only I could have a dream about a way to make a lot of money. Did you know that Stephenie Meyer, the author of the Twilight books, got her ideas for the books from a dream she had? Man, it's a good thing she remembered that dream in the morning!
I have many recurring dreams too, many of which I have already mentioned on this blog in the past. One of my recurring dreams (which I've discussed before, but I'm going to again...it is a recurring dream after all), involves me finding a secret passageway or hidden room in my house. What usually happens is I find a door I'd never seen before and then the door leads me into a giant game room, or down a hall that leads into a basement I didn't know existed. I always LOVE this dream because it is very exciting to discover rooms I didn't know I had. When we were buying the house we live in now, I had this dream. In my dream I was like, "oh my gosh, I always have this dream about this happening, and now it happened in real life!!" But it was still just a dream. This is one of those dreams where I wake up a little disappointed because it was just a dream.
I also have those dreams where I wake up and I'm SOOOO relieved that it was only a dream! . . .Like all those dreams I have about my teeth falling out.
Anyway, aren't dreams amazing? Isn't it weird that we dream? Isn't it weird that sometimes our dreams are so bizarre....they make no sense in the real world, but in our dreams, they make perfect sense. Very interesting. I would love to study dreams for a living.
What do you guys dream about?
[afternoon nap, summer of '04...probably dreaming of getting a new couch.]

On a side note...thank you awesome readers for answering my Questions for You. It was sure fun to read your responses. Each one made me laugh. So, thank you for entertaining me. It was fun to see who of you believes in aliens, who doesn't, who makes their bed, who doesn't and who you all have crushes on. Next time maybe I'll ask more embarrassing questions (and force you to answer them!). :-)
The question is, why are you not taking up the entire couch? Adam says whenever he has his legs up like that they fall asleep. He claims you had plenty of room on the couch to take up the entire thing...Lawyers think of the dumbest things...hope you guys are doing really well. We miss you. Come see us when you are close.
ReplyDeletePhillips Family- ha ha. I was actually wondering the same thing about me sleeping on the couch. I wondered if anyone would say anything about that. We want to come see you guys and the baby. We'll call you!
