>>TEENY, TINY BABY BLANKETS

I saw this blog post here and I wanted to help!

"Hospitals all across the country are in need of small, very small, baby blankets. In cases of fetal demise, babies are so tiny, even the smallest nursery blanket is much too big to wrap around their tiny bodies."

Sizes in need are 12X12 and 24X24. They can be shipped to:

Meryntha Haro
1301 East Debbie Lane, Suite 102
#162
Mansfield, TX 76063

Just the thought of a baby needing a blanket so small broke my heart.

I whipped out our card table, dusted off the sewing machine, and threw together a few blankets with my fabric scraps (my cute and soft fabric scraps of course). I hope to put these in the mail on Monday.

It feels good to help. This was such an easy project, and of course it won't make things all better for a grieving family, but even if it makes one teeny, tiny small difference, it's all worth it.

Check out the link above for more details and feel free to join in and sew up some baby blankets!

  1. That is a great way to use up extra scraps! Those are so cute, and a great service project :) Maybe I should suggest that for a young womens activity!

  2. oh jen, that is a wonderful project. both of my babies were preemies and we unfortunately learned of other tiny babies passing away in the NICU. i can't imagine the grief and pain, but i honestly believe something like this made by someone who cares would help their heart to start to heal. to know someone cares enough to do that for your tiny baby, that doesn't even know you is powerful. because of my experiences i am so deeply attached to tiny babies in NICUs everywhere. i need to brush up on my sewing but i would love to be able to do this too. thank you so much for sharing.

  5. I love it when people act on impressions. I know that these special blankets will touch hearts and mean something to mothers going through the hardest day of their lives.
