>>HOW TO STEAL BLOG SPACE AND CATCH MICE

First off, this isn’t Jen posting this, its me, Curtis. So this post in no way reflects the views or opinion of the real author of this blog. I’ll probably get in trouble, and it will probably be deleted. I am just bored at home. Plus, I feel bad for double posting on a day where she just posted, so read her post first, or at least after this, so she doesn't delete mine. On to the post….

A while back when we moved into our place, we spotted some mice near the garage. Always up for a man vs. mice challenge, I decided to catch these buggers. My first method used the sticky mouse traps that you bait with food, and the mice step on but cant step off because the trap has really sticky glue. This method failed, as the mice would just take the bait and get a free meal off me. Plus, in the mice’s attempts to escape, they drag the trap all over the place, getting dirt, grass, leaves, etc. in the sticky stuff, so they ruin the trap AND escape.

So here’s what really works when hunting mice, and no other method is equal: Step 1: buy the old fashioned mouse traps, the kind with the spring bar on wood. A four pack can be found at Family Dollar for 2 bucks. Step 2: Put a dab (or a smidgeon if you must) of peanut butter on the trap. Cheeze or oats or anything else that can be easily taken is not acceptable. Peanut butter is superior because it is sticky and takes a while for the mouse to eat it. Step 3: Place trap against a wall or near a door where you have seen mice. Step 4: Load the spring, sit back, and relax knowing that you will get a mouse, or a curious cat, but either one is a win win situation. For proof of how good this method works, see below, and notice how the trap's sheer force flipped it, and its contents, upside down:

And moving on in non-sequitur fashion, this song here is quite possibly the best song ever, or at least the best song from New Order. I couldn’t find the original video, but you can enjoy just the same.

Stay tuned for more of my random postings, as I don’t have a blog, and am really bored this week.

  3. TWO MICE in ONE TRAP!! That is pure talent, I love it. When we go to Colorado to visit my family, we go rat-stomping (really they are mice) in the fields at night. You guys must come with skills like that.

  4. Nice! We sat up mouse traps when were living with Jared's parents--they were in the garage with our dog and our dog decided she could get to the traps faster than the mice and ate the peanut butter off..but didn't set off the trap, she just shredded the wood..that takes talent!

  5. Steve and I were impressed with your mice catching skills... definitely agree to go with the peanut butter. It lures them nicely:) We will be looking forward to more Curtis posts when he is bored. Funny!!

  6. Peanut butter is also very good for luring your MIA gerbil back into its cage.

The girl on this video looks kinda like Jenny in her new haircut, at first glance! But Jenny is much, much cuter.

  7. At least they died together like the dude and chick from The Notebook. Kind of romantic if you think about it.
