>>MY BFF'S

On Monday I had a meeting at Primary Children's Hospital that I had to go to for my work, so Curtis and I were lucky enough to spend the last 4 days down in Utah. It is always hard to juggle our time while we're down there. We always have so much to do and we are NEVER able to do it all. I was however, able to get together with some of my best friends that I haven't seen FOREVER!...like several years forever. So. Much. Fun!!

{Me, Neelam and Emily}
These girls are just plain awesome. I was SO happy that I was able to see them. It has been several years since I've seen them, and even more since we were all together. I have so many fun memories of them. We spent hours reminiscing about our high school days and just laughing and laughing about all the silly things we did. I'm so glad that I was able to share my high school experience with these girls and I'm definitely lucky to have them as my friends. Here are just a couple of funny memories I have with these girls.

Emily- One night Emily and I were just driving around trying to find something to do. We eventually ended up at Top Hat Video (a video rental store). While we were there, we saw someone that we DID NOT want to see us. We were trying to be sneaky and get out of the store without this person seeing us. I can't even remember who it was...or I would rather not say...just in case :-) Anyway, as we turned around the corner of an isle full of movies, we ran our fastest towards the door. But, to our surprise, the door was locked and we slammed right in to it and fell to the ground. Overcome with laughter and embarrassment, as everyone looked our way, we gathered ourselves together and ran out the other door. This story probably isn't as funny to anyone else as it was to us, but it is one of my funniest moments that happened with Emily. Oh, and just FYI, the person we were avoiding totally saw the whole thing.

Neelam- One night Neelam and I were just hanging out on my front porch. These 2 guys, who we both happened to have crushes on, stopped by. They came and talked with us for a bit on the porch and then they left. After they left, me and Neelam of course both sat and talked about them for quite awhile....how cute they were, how we both liked them...Neelam even talked about a dream that she had recently had about them. After awhile, they came back and hung out with us again. It wasn't until a few days later that I learned that when they came the first time, they put a tape recorder under the bench we were sitting on. Then, when they came back the second time, they were only coming back to pick up the tape recorder to see what we had been talking about. SO EMBARRASSING! At first I was totally embarrassed and worried about what I may have said. Then, I just couldn't believe that they were able to trick us like that. So, what did we do??...we got them back. We gathered up some dog poop and put it in a paper bag, then we put the bag under one of their seats in their car. We thought it was this great idea, but they never even found out about it. Our friend's car was already SO dirty and disgusting that the dog poop didn't make any difference.

You 2 girls are the best. Thanks for being such good friends to me!!

{Me and my other friend Emily}
I was also able to get together with my good friend Emily (a different Emily). She went to a different high school than I, but we worked together and became best friends. This girl is totally rad. That is the word I think of when I think about Emily...RAD!! I love her!! She is pregnant with a baby girl and is due next month. I am SO excited for her!!! She is going to be the best mom!

Here is a fun memory I have about Emily... She likes the same kind of music that Curtis likes, so once I started dating Curtis, I quickly turned to Emily and told her that she needed to help me with my music collection. I knew Curtis wasn't into country music, or Jewel, or Bryan Adams, or well, pretty much everything I listened to. Emily burned me several of her CDs, including The Clash, Bam Bam Bigelow (a comp CD with all the good stuff), the "C" Mix (which was secretly named for Curtis...also a great comp CD), Elliot Smith, and a bunch of others that I can't think of. Anyway, I put all of these CDs in my car and was sure to have one of them in the CD player when I would be with Curtis. He totally thought I was much cooler than I really was. Thanks Emily!!!

Another memory I have was when Emily and I decided to go get our hair died at the beauty school...because it was way cheaper than a regular salon. At the time, we were making about 5 or 6 bucks an hour at a very part time job. Emily wanted her hair to have blond and brown highlight/lowlights and I wanted my hair to have blond highlights, but not too blond, just a soft blond. Emily's hair ended up being this crazy silver color and mine ended up being bleached blond. We were both too shy to say anything and we left trying our hardest to hold in our laughs. I think Emily eventually ended up cutting her hair and I had one of my friends put in light brown lowlights in mine to settle the color down.

I love these girls SO MUCH!! Thanks for hanging out with me these past couple of days and for being the best friends ever!!!

  1. I laughed so hard at the cd's and the hair story. I started listening to neal young when I dated a guy. But the sad thing is that my 35 year bro in law was the only one that thought it was cool. Oh the guy was old. go figure.

  4. Oh and I hate to be nosy, but I would LOVE an invite to the Cheney Family Mushbowl! No problem if you'd rather not, but I'd love to see it. Thanks!

  5. Those guys in your story about the tape recorder sound like JERKS! Although I must give them credit for pulling it off. They must have been really smart.
