>>WHAT A STUD

If you know Curtis, then you know he L-O-V-E-S scooters. He was excited to work on his newest project over Spring break....his recently purchased 1980 Vespa P200.

I took the liberty of documenting the process that goes into repairing/ restoring an old scooter. I have seen this process first hand many times.

It goes a little something like this....

Step 1: Finding an old scooter to buy that needs plenty of t.l.c.

Step 2: Spending hours and hours working on the scooter. This includes taking the scooter apart, putting it back together, rebuilding the carb, cleaning out the gas tank, and much, much more.

Step 3: Adding oil and gas to the scooter.

Step 4: Trying to start the scooter.

Step 5: Standing back with dad discussing why the scooter didn't start as well as figuring out why it is leaking gas.

Step 6: Working on the scooter some more.

Step 7: Trying to start the scooter again.

Step 8: Yes!! It started!

Step 9: Now the fun begins!

Keep in mind, the steps don't stop here. They repeat themselves many, many times and may happen in any order. My favorite part of it all is watching Curtis' face light up when his scooter finally starts. It is fun for me to watch him doing what he loves.

  1. You forgot to mention that you helped work on the scooter and got your hands dirty replacing the fuel line! Couldn't have done it without you babe!

  2. Jen -

I really like the new look of the blog - it keeps getting better.

Wondering if you picked a template or did you design this yourself?

  3. Thanks Ike! Hopefully my blog lives up to your expectations of a "good" blog that others enjoy reading:) Thanks for the tips.

Anyway...I designed this myself. Now that I know how to do it, I want to change it all the time.

Thanks for inviting me and Curtis to dinner with you and Jana. We really had a good time. Sorry we couldn't come watch the Jazz game with you guys. Maybe next time:)

  4. Where did you learn to do it? Is there a website that helped you?

I had a bugger of a time fixing Jana's the way she wanted. We scanned in scrapbook paper that she liked and it was so hard to get it to float on the left side of her blog. I finally figured it out, 15 unhelpful websites and 2 or 3 hours later.

If you noticed, I just changed my blog for the 1st time ever, but I just used a Blogger template so it still looks like every other blog out there. I guess it's more content than cosmetics that matters, but it's nice to have a good looking blog to go along with it.

  5. Ike- Its hard to explain, but I'll do my best. First, I followed the instructions and used the HTML code at http://cutestblogontheblock.blogspot.com/. Instead of using one of the designs from this site, I designed my own (just using free digital scrapbook paper I downloaded, but you could scan in your own creation). Then, I uploaded my design into photobucket.com. Once the image is uploaded, photobucket gives you a "direct link" to your image. I copied the direct link and pasted it into the HTML code on my blog. That is pretty much it.

I hope that made sense. If you or Jana want to give it a try, you could call me and I could tell you step by step over the phone. It is actually pretty easy, it is just hard to expain it in writing.

And, yes...I did notice you changed your blog. It looks great!

  6. One more thing Ike....I do the blog title picture separately. The "direct link" image is only the background. Then once that is done, I add the title picture on the layout section of the blog (The part of the blog where you can add page elements). Hopefully this makes sense....I feel I may have confused you more??? Just call me if you have questions:)
