the family room

Here is our downstairs family room how it is today...in all its pink glory.

I am getting anxious to paint it....maybe even this weekend.

We are having a hard time choosing paint colors. We (I) want to do something fun. We are being more reserved with our colors upstairs, so downstairs, I want to do something a little more bold...but what? Right now I am liking blues...oranges...and yellows. Not combined...we will just do one color...unless we do an accent wall. See, I just don't know.

What colors have you guys used that you have either loved or hated? Any suggestions?

  1. choosing is hard! I like the gold color, but the blue is great too...I don't know, my walls are all just bland- all the same color-ivory!

  2. ew i love the color combination. i vote one of the yellow tones or the blue for the walls, and then i think they look great together so get accessories to tie them all together. can't wait to see what you do.

  3. I'm on a blue kick right now. I love the color from Restoration Hardware called Silver Sage. I painted my living room that color, and plan to do my entry way. Most places will match colors if you have a sample. I love changing paint colors!!

  4. We just did that yellow in our basement. It really brightened things up and actually made it feel...well...not like a basement. The only thing to be careful of is that the first shade we put on was crazy bright sunshine. It was way to much yellow and on the wall I hated it. I ended up taking it back so they could add darker tones so that it would match the look I had in mind. Now I love it!!
    GOOD LUCK!
Can't wait to see what you do.

  7. my friend, a designer, says the color pendulum is swinging back to the cool side. Think hot pink and mint or celery green. Green is the new neutral, according to her.

  8. The blue looks like the blue I just painted my bathroom I love love love it in my house it makes me happy every time I look at it. and the light taupe-yellow color looks a lot like the one I picked in my living room . I have found a lot of accessories that match both making it easy to pull the rooms together. Good luck and remember to have fun. If go with something YOU love you can never go wrong. :)
